Lemon Dessert with Ladyfingers

This Lemon Dessert with Ladyfingers is a refreshing and creamy treat that’s perfect for any occasion. The zesty lemon filling paired with soft ladyfingers and whipped cream creates a light, yet indulgent dessert.

Ingredients

For the Lemon Filling:

  • 500 ml of milk
  • 100 g of sugar
  • 50 g of corn starch
  • 1 lemon zest (grated)
  • 100 ml of lemon juice

For the Assembly:

  • Ladyfingers
  • Milk (for soaking the ladyfingers)
  • Lemon jam (optional, for added sweetness and flavor)
  • 350 ml of whipping cream
  • 45 g of powdered sugar

Directions

Step 1: Make the Lemon Filling

  1. In a saucepan, combine 500 ml of milk, 100 g of sugar, 50 g of corn starch, lemon zest, and 100 ml of lemon juice.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens. This will take around 5-7 minutes. Be sure to keep an eye on it to avoid lumps.
  3. Once the filling has thickened, remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature. You can place it in a bowl and cover it with plastic wrap to prevent a skin from forming.

Step 2: Prepare the Ladyfingers

  1. In a shallow dish, pour milk. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the milk for about 1-2 seconds, ensuring they are moistened but not soaked.
  2. Arrange the dipped ladyfingers in a serving dish, covering the bottom of the dish.

Step 3: Assemble the Dessert

  1. Once the lemon filling has cooled, spread a layer of the lemon mixture over the ladyfingers in your dish.
  2. Repeat layering: dip more ladyfingers in milk and layer them on top of the lemon filling. Add another layer of lemon filling over the ladyfingers. Continue alternating layers until you’ve used up all the ladyfingers and lemon filling.

Step 4: Whip the Cream

  1. In a separate bowl, whip the 350 ml of whipping cream with 45 g of powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. This will take a few minutes with a hand mixer or stand mixer.
  2. Spread the whipped cream evenly over the top layer of the lemon filling.

Step 5: Chill and Serve

  1. Chill the dessert in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to set.
  2. Optionally, decorate with lemon jam for an extra burst of flavor and a beautiful presentation.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Garnish with lemon zest or a few mint leaves for a fresh touch.
  • Serve in individual cups for a more elegant presentation.

Tips & Variations:

  • For Extra Lemon Flavor: If you want a stronger lemon taste, you can add more lemon zest or a tablespoon of lemon extract to the lemon filling.
  • Make it Fruity: Layer in some fresh berries like strawberries or raspberries between the lemon filling layers for added color and flavor.
  • Lemon Jam: If you use lemon jam, lightly spread it between layers for an extra layer of sweetness and tartness.

This Lemon Dessert with Ladyfingers is the perfect combination of tangy lemon filling, soft ladyfingers, and creamy whipped topping, making it a delightful and refreshing treat for any occasion! Enjoy! 🍋
